There's an Oil for That

For the past few months, I have had the opportunity to try out Young Living Essential Oils.  I was so excited when Nikki from Floral and Pine introduced me to them.  In the short time that I have had my starter kit, I have come to really appreciate the benefit of using them in my everyday life.  I used them in so many different ways, I used them for the home, wellness for the whole family, in my beauty regimen, for overall balance, and even in cooking.

Diffusing has been one of my main ways of oiling.  I love the fresh fragrance of oils in the air.  They all have amazing scents, and its great to know that the scent is more than just that, it has a purpose.  At the end of the summer I had horrible allergies that would manifest at night and first thing in the morning.  Nikki suggested that I diffuse Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint.  And I can’t even tell you how much of a difference it made with my seasonal discomfort.  I also diffused Purification on days when I wanted the house smelling fresh and clean.  Thieves was diffused around the clock whenever one of us was sick and we wanted to protect the rest of them family. Thieves has been a major go to and I know that especially during the winter when sicknesses tend to fester, we will need Thieves on hand.  The oils are an amazing alternative to yucky chemical filled products.

I used some of the oils topically, usually diluted by a carrier oil.  I made a little belly rub from Peppermint and Di-Gize for the babes when they had tummy aches.  I rubbed Lavender on my temples when I had a headache, Pan-Away was massaged on sore muscles after working out.  After Beckham had croup I would give him a little foot massage before bed with RC and Thieves, he loved it.  I also added a couple drops of Frankincense into my face moisturizer, it is known to help minimize oils and diminish blemishes. Copaiba is also great for the skin s it works as a anti-inflammatory.  I’ve carried Lavender around in case of headaches or to also calm a fussy baby. And I added a drop of Lavender oil into my mascara! And I have to say, I think my lashes are looking healthier and fluffier too:)

Adding a couple drops of the oils to our water or herbal tea has been a treat.  Lemon and Peppermint were perfect for that and the flavor is just wonderful.  It’s easy to taste that these oils are 100% pure.  I have loved adding a few drops into my cooking as well.  We’ve made smoothies and desserts with them and they were all delicious!

Here is the most recent dessert we made, we added a few drops of Peppermint and made some amaaaazing thin mint brownies!! Get the recipe here. You will LOVE it.

I am grateful for this experience with essential oils, but most of all I am grateful that I was able to experience 100% pure and natural Young Living oils.  Derrick and I have both enjoyed them and we have come to the point where we often say, “There’s an oil for that!” for almost anything.  But it’s funny because it’s true.  If you’re interested in learning more about these amazing oils check out Floral & Pine, Nikki is wonderful and knows so much more about these oils.  Although I have experienced these oils in so many ways, I know that this is only the tip of the iceberg, and I have so much to learn and I am looking forward to continually implementing these oils into a more healthy and natural lifestyle.
